A year after the launch at Nokia's headquarters, the consortium of the European project PROACTIF has met in Linz (Austria), at a meeting organised by Silicon Austria Labs (SAL). Celestia TST was represented by Ana Carrera Monterde.

Ports are critical infrastructures that are difficult to monitor: large areas, hard-to-access zones, and patrols that depend on personnel and fixed cameras with blind spots. PROACTIF addresses this problem with unmanned vehicles capable of operating autonomously. The project, framed within Chips JU, combines robotics, IoT, and advanced sensing for civil security missions.

During this first year, the work has progressed from defining requirements and designing the architecture to the actual adaptation of the platforms, both in hardware and software.

Celestia TST leads the port security mission. The aim of its work is to convert the real operational needs of the ports into technical specifications for a UGV that patrols, detects threats, and issues alerts in real time without human intervention. The mini-UGV platform has already passed the initial tests and is now moving towards integration with the perception, navigation, and communication technologies provided by the other partners.

Here is the differentiator of Celestia TST: we are an active partner in the development. We provide our own hardware, real integration on the platform, and a technical team that resolves issues on the ground. In PROACTIF, this translates into work on the advanced positioning and navigation capabilities that allow the robot to move and orient itself in a complex environment.

Furthermore, Celestia TST leads the work package that coordinates the adaptation of autonomous platforms (terrestrial, aerial and maritime) to the various missions of the project, endowing them with capabilities such as detection, inspection, patrolling and cooperation between robots.

In the coming months, the integration and validation phase arrives: advanced perception, intelligent sensing, resilient localisation, situational awareness, cybersecurity and autonomous navigation, all working together in real scenarios.

This work in PROACTIF feeds the R&D lines in which Celestia TST is already innovating: robotics and edge computing, high-precision positioning and IoT connectivity, where the next generation of the company's solutions is being developed.
